Dr. Reid’s Dental Journey

Dr. Ryan Reid grew up in University Place, WA and is a proud alumni of Curtis High School. He also graduated from the University of Washington where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics. He then went on to attend Western University of Health Sciences College of Dental Medicine in Pomona, California where he graduated #4 in his class and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree. Dr. Reid was selected to the Dean’s List all 4 years of dental school, served as his class’s Ethics Chair, and upon graduation was inducted into the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.

Giving back to his community has always been a priority for Dr. Reid. He has volunteered with programs such as Special Olympics, Give Kids a Smile, the First 5 LA Community Health Initiative, the Meet Each Need with Dignity Dental Clinic, the San Gabriel Valley Foundation for Dental Health, and the South Sound Free Dental Day.

Dr. Reid is thrilled to be practicing in his hometown and enjoying all that the Northwest has to offer. He is, of course, a huge Husky and Seahawks fan, and enjoys all things outdoors. He married his wonderful wife Jenny in 2011, and they keep busy raising their 3 children. Dr. Reid believes that great dental care begins with compassion, honesty, and by listening to the needs of each patient.

What qualifications should my dentist have?

When looking for a new dentist, you should seek a dentist that’s professionally educated through an accredited dental program. Dr. Bloomquist graduated in 1994 from the University of Michigan with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She later graduated from Creighton University with her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2004.

You’ll also want to look at your dentist’s further education, accomplishments, and experience. Dr. Bloomquist prides herself on high standards and attends a number of continuing education each year, ensuring that her patients receive the best possible care.

What questions should I ask a new dentist?

Asking questions before choosing a dentist is essential, and it’s the best way to decide whether they’re a good fit for you. Some questions you should ask your dentist include:

  • What dental specialties does your office provide?
  • Do you take X-rays for diagnostic purposes?
  • Do you offer payment plans?
  • Do you accept my insurance plan?
Do I really have to visit the dentist regularly?

Yes! It’s important to schedule routine dental check-ups and professional cleanings at least twice a year, or every six months. This allows us to eliminate any plaque and bacteria from building up in places your toothbrush just can’t reach.

We’ll thoroughly clean every area of your mouth and determine if you need any additional treatments. You’re less likely to undergo invasive dental procedures if you keep up with your regular appointments, as well as maintain good oral hygiene habits at home.

Why should I choose Dr. Bloomquist for dental care?

Dr. Bloomquist is committed to creating a welcoming, comprehensive environment for her valued staff and patients of all ages. She’s built her collaborative knowledge and experience to expand her practice to include several dental specialties. Some of which include mental health, oral surgeons, personal trainers, primary care physicians, and so much more.
