What to Expect
Dental bonding involves minimal discomfort, and the procedure rarely requires any anesthetic. The first step in the bonding process is to make sure that the bonding material matches the shade of the rest of your smile. Dr. Bloomquist will utilize a shade guide to select the right color.
Once we’ve found the perfect shade of resin, Dr. Bloomquist will roughen the surface of your tooth, and add a conditioning material. The conditioning material assists how the resin adheres to the tooth, increasing durability.
After the conditioning material sets, Dr. Bloomquist applies the tooth-colored resin to the prepared area. At this point in the process, the resin is still moldable—she’ll smooth the surface of your tooth so that it looks and feels natural.
Dr. Bloomquist uses a special light that’s applied in 15-second intervals until the resin fully hardens. Once it’s tempered, Dr. Bloomquist will trim and polish your tooth, so your smile looks exceptional.
We can complete the entire dental bonding process within 30 minutes and an hour. Then, you’ll be ready to start smiling confidently again.
Dental Bonding: Care & Life-Span
Dental bonding is one of the most straightforward and affordable cosmetic procedures. Generally, bonding material lasts from three to five years before you need to replace it. Their longevity is dependent on the amount of bonding completed and your oral hygiene habits.
Caring for a smile that we treated with dental bonding doesn’t require any special treatment. Merely care for your restored tooth as you would your natural teeth—with daily brushing and flossing. Furthermore, we recommend incorporating an antiseptic mouthwash into your care routine if you haven’t already.
