Taking Care of Your Porcelain Veneers
Your veneers can last up to 15 years with proper oral care. Luckily, taking care of your dental restorations is easy. To keep your porcelain veneers in great condition, make sure you’re brushing your teeth twice a day with a non-abrasive toothpaste, flossing daily, and rinsing with an alcohol-free, antibacterial mouthwash.
To maintain the luster of your veneers, we recommend avoiding or cutting down on foods that stain your teeth, like coffee, berries, tea, or wine. Hard food like nuts and candy can also hurt the integrity of your veneers, so be mindful when consuming these types of foods.
It’s also important to remember that one of the best ways to ensure your veneers stay in great shape is to schedule biannual appointments at our Gig Harbor dental office. This way, our dental experts can deep clean your teeth and stop the progression of any oral health issues.
What if my veneer falls off or is damaged?
If your veneer falls off, keep it safe in a small container or bag and bring it with you to your next appointment for re-application. We can either re-attach the veneer or suggest new ones if you’ve had your current veneers for a long time. Don’t try and fix or re-apply the damaged veneer yourself as this can cause further damage.
